News from Muddy Church<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Muddy Church had another successful morning working in the churchyard. We tidied up the seated area and planted some colourful bee and butterfly friendly flowers, sowed mustard seeds to improve the soil, planted more tomatoes, strawberries and lavender, replenished our bug hotels, found a lot of bugs, started growing some avocados and had a lot of fun into the bargain.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Oh and we had choc ices and donuts too.<\/p>\n

Well done everyone on a great job!!<\/p>\n

A few more photos from our Easter activities! We loved welcoming 150 primary school pupils to the church for Experience Easter to hear the Easter story and reflect on the themes within it. We also had lots of fun at Easter crafts on Good Friday!<\/p>\n

Muddy Church was very busy again on Good Friday,\u00a0 building a large Easter garden and a mini one each, making an Easter tree and planting more bee and butterfly friendly plants.<\/p>\n

What a successful morning we had on Saturday, 28th September. Despite all the rain beforehand, we had great weather and achieved a lot:<\/p>\n

Bug hotels topped up, Eucalyptus tree planted, Logs in place , Sunflowers measured, \u00a0Autumn challenge completed, \u00a0Bird feeders made and doughnuts eaten<\/p>\n

Lay Ministry Celebration Service – Saturday 14 September<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/h2>\n

Last Saturday the Diocese held a service, at Coventry Cathedral to celebrate all forms of lay ministry within the diocese.\u00a0 Bishop Ruth Worsley, Acting Bishop of Coventry and Rob Harrison, Director of Ministry and Leadership led the service.\u00a0 This replaced and included the Reader Celebration service.\u00a0 It reflected and celebrated the time and commitment given in many forms by lay people, without whom the church would not exist.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

For the first time ever, each parish was given the opportunity to nominate one or two lay people who had contributed to the church in the last year.\u00a0 We nominated Chris Foy for his work not only as organist and choir master, but also on the PCC, with safeguarding, Pause in the Park and being around to open and lock the church, simply support things that are happening at the church and supporting the Deanery.\u00a0 Next year we expect to nominate two different people as a way of recognising and thanking them.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

The service also included the licensing of two new Readers and the re-licensing of 33 Readers, who renew their licence every four years.\u00a0 This year was my turn to be re-licensed.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

In addition people who had completed one of the Pathways for Lay Training were also recognised and received their certificates.\u00a0 These allow you to start with simply completing one session or a short course of five sessions and then build up to a bigger qualification, if you want. If you want to know more about the Pathways or training in general please talk me.<\/span><\/p>\n
