House Groups

As the name suggests, pre-pandemic we met in various church member’s houses as well as church, usually one evening a fortnight.

In recent times we have been offering a range of opportunities to meet either on zoom or in person, during the day or later in the evening. More recently we have restored of face to face gatherings. There is coffee and chat as well as time spent praying and reading the Bible.    Our gatherings give us time to get to know each other and to learn more about God in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Our current different house groups meet as follows:

1st and 3rd Thursday morning of the month 10:30-12 noon with Bishop David

2nd and 4th wednesdy evening of the month 7:30-9pm with John and Gillian

2nd and 4th wednesdy evening of the month 7:30-9pm with Sue

2nd and 4th Thursday evening of the month 7:30-9pm with Dorothy and Gill

The community who regularly meet forHoly Communion on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday morning of the month also gather very much as a house group.

One of our housegroup leaders says:

“Our house group meets on Wednesday evening once a fortnight from 7.30 to 9.30 in a private home and we start with tea or coffee and chat before settling down to our study. In recent years we have looked at Bible books including 1 Peter and the Epistle of James, and a course on Science and Faith which was both informative and challenging. There are nine regular members and after several years together we feel at ease, able to share doubts and questions with each other. We end with a time of prayer. No one is obliged to speak but usually everyone shares in the discussion.

In the summer and after Christmas we have a bring-and-share meal which is always a highlight of the year.”

If there is any church member who wants to be a part of a housegroup, or wants to see what they are like before joining one, please contact the clergy via the church office.
